Welcome to Chelsey Cross Therapy
Whether you are dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, stress, marital strain or looking for frequent support and a safe space to explore your state of mind, I am here to help.
Is counselling or psychodynamic therapy right for you? Psychodynamic Therapy is an open-ended approach that helps you delve into deep-rooted issues that could be contributing to your current problems. It relies on building a trustworthy relationship with your therapist that allows you to express your feelings and fears without judgement, in order to gain further understanding and find effective ways to cope with how you feel. If you’re not sure whether therapy is the right step for you, please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss a plan that is suited to your needs.
Chelsey Cross DIP, BPC, MBACP
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor, accredited and registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is the most important part of the therapeutic process. It relies on trust, support and safety for you to share your feelings, fears and emotions. My approach is a non-judgemental one. No matter what you bring to the session, my therapy room is a safe space in which you can speak your mind openly, honestly and without worry. It’s through this trusted alliance that you can begin to reflect, understand and build your own resilience in order to work through anything that is currently troubling you and toward real change.

My training is accredited by the BPC and I am a member of the BACP.

How it works
  • If my approach sounds right for you, we will begin by having an initial phone call where we can carry out an assessment. It’s during this time we can both get a feel for how we could work together.
  • Following that, our sessions would typically be once a week, lasting for 50 minutes. It’s during this time we will work together to build a relationship in which you feel safe, supported and guided in sharing your thoughts and feelings.
  • Therapy will be open-ended, but working toward a place where you feel ready to come to a natural end is an important part of the process. We will typically work together once per week, but as the sessions continue we can discuss how you are feeling and what you need.
FAQ
What happens during our initial meeting?

We will begin the process with an initial telephone consultation which will be no obligation on either part to sign up for therapy. During this conversation we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and what your needs are, and this will give us both a chance to see if therapy with me would be a suitable fit.

Following this, we will have a paid assessment session, which can be either in person or a video call, depending on which method we choose for your therapy. During the assessment I will take as much background information as possible, in order to gain an understanding of your past and present situation and your needs.

How long will I be in therapy?

Psychodynamic Therapy is open-ended, as each individual and their needs are different. The time you spend in therapy is something we will discuss in session and an ending will be worked toward together. Sessions are 50 minutes long; we will normally meet on the same day and time each week. Counselling and Psychotherapy is a weekly commitment unless otherwise agreed – by allowing yourself a regular time and space each week, you are giving yourself an opportunity for self-improvement. If you do decide that your therapy journey has come to an end, this will be discussed in session.

How much does a session cost?

Each 50 minute session will cost £65.

What happens if I am on holiday or can’t make a session?

You will not pay for sessions that fall during holidays that we have organised together in advance. Missed sessions will incur the full fee if a suitable alternative cannot be arranged in advance. If in exceptional/emergency situations I need to cancel a session - you will not be charged, and I aim to give you at least 48 hours’ notice.
